The Career Ministry is a network of persons who provide those in career transition with assistance with areas like resume writing, interviewing skills, employment resources while also offering spiritual support. Call the church office (817-481-2559) if you are in need of assistance with a career transition.

Our Career Transition Ministry team manages a number of resources which can be tailored to your individual needs and situation.

Checklist for Job Seekers
  • Make a list of skills you have that you want to use in your job.
  • Decide what jobs you are qualified to do so that you have a goal. Hiring managers want to know what you want to do. Be specific.
  • Create a résumé listing jobs, skills, accomplishments, education, training.
  • Make a list of people who need to know you are looking for employment and give them your résumé or list of job qualifications… 80% of the people find jobs through other people.
  • Learn how to speak about yourself – name, skills, goals, etc. Make it brief so that you can tell anyone you talk to.
  • Practice answers to common interview questions. Public libraries and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) have lists of questions to practice.
  • Find out what training is available at the TWC offices to gain more skill

The vision is to create a place where we can exchange ideas and post job leads that may be of interest to someone. Career Transition Support Group at First Hurst
NETworkers is a career transition support group at First UMC Hurst for those who are unemployed and actively looking for jobs. NETworkers meets in the church parlor every Monday for about 1 ½ hours beginning at 9 a.m. Knowing that unemployment is such a difficult situation, the church wants to do something to offer emotional support as well as practical tips for social networking, resume writing, etc. They often have guest speakers. Employment 101 at First Methodist Mansfield
Employment 101 is a monthly network event for job seekers. Meet the second Thursday of each month from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. to get valuable information, share your successes and your frustrations, and pray for grace. Click here for more info...
